Everest Collegiate Wins CHSL Girls Cross Country Cardinal Championship, Freshmen Shine
The Catholic High School League (CHSL) Girls Cross Country Cardinal Championship took place on October 18 at Willow Metro Park, with fierce competition and a stunning display of athleticism from all teams. In a race that showcased both individual talent and team depth, Everest Collegiate took home the team title with 40 points, edging out Shrine Catholic’s 45 points and Greenhills’ 55 points.

Everest Collegiate’s victory was marked by consistency, with their runners packing tightly to accumulate a low score. Shrine Catholic pushed Everest to the limit, but ultimately finished five points behind in second place. Greenhills, despite having the top individual finisher, came in third with 55 points in a closely contested race.
Individual Performances
The top finishers of the day included several standout performances, led by freshman sensation Addison Gregg of Greenhills. Gregg crossed the finish line first, clocking an impressive 20:02. Despite her individual victory, her team narrowly missed out on the overall win.
Following closely behind was another freshman, Cassidy Bowers from Austin Catholic, who finished with a time of 20:20. Bowers’ strong performance made her a runner to watch for the future, as she finished just 18 seconds behind Gregg.
Rounding out the top three was Erica Walker, a senior from Everest Collegiate, with a time of 21:07. Walker’s experience and leadership were critical to Everest’s overall team success, as she helped anchor the team with her top finish.
